Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As 2021 draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the tremendous year of growth ICHAD and SMART Africa have had across so many areas, thanks to the resilience and ongoing collaboration of our staff, participants, trainees, and partners. To list just a few accomplishments from the year:
- Number of extramural sponsored grants has grown, with four newly funded/pending grants this year. In addition, we have submitted grants to bring our learning from global to local—here in Missouri
- Number of our sponsored students here at Brown School—from Post Doc, to PhD students, to MSW/MPH and summer trainees (RRT/D43/T37 Fellows) — has grown as we continue to build a new generation of researchers, leaders and practitioners
- The extent of our operations across Sub-Saharan Africa has grown—including numbers of participants (children and families) benefiting directly from our projects/innovative studies
- And most important of all, as we welcome new spouses and babies in our personal lives, we continue to build stronger families of our own, and those that we support and/or sponsor in some form or another
- This growth demonstrates that, with each passing year, we are a stronger “family” of friends, academicians, collaborators, and practitioners. We are grateful to each one of you who have engaged with ICHAD/Smart Africa over the years, either by supporting and collaborating on our research studies and training programs, or attending our public events
We hope 2022 will bring you much peace, good health, and prosperity. We look forward to connecting with you next year and wish you a wonderful and joy-filled holiday season!
Warmest wishes,
The ICHAD and SMART Africa Teams
