Workshop Description
Causality analysis is a core interest of all scientific research. In the past four decades, methods of causal analysis have undergone significant changes. Such significance is demonstrated through the contributions of three Nobel Prize winning scholars to the study of causality analysis. In this workshop, Dr. Guo will highlight the main contributions made by three Nobel Prizewinners: James Heckman, Joshua Angrist, and Guido Imbens as well as other influential scholars in econometrics and statistics through the review and summary of 14 published papers. Dr. Guo will focus on main ideas and wisdom of these innovative contributions, as well as debates and challenges in the field. This presentation avoids complicated mathematics and will be accessible to a general audience. Working understanding of basic matrix algebra is a prerequisite. The workshop will be 90 minutes, including 10 minutes of Q&A.
This workshop is a stand-alone workshop , and it also serves as the introduction to a 4-part series workshop, “Advanced Analytic Methods of Causal Analysis.” For more information and to register for the full series, click Register Now.
Advanced Analytic Methods of Causal Analysis Series
The workshop on February 10th is a stand-alone workshop for all Brown School faculty and PhD students; Researchers from all Brown School Research Centers; Recent Brown School PhD graduates; and Brown School Research Training Program Participants. It also serves as the introduction in a 4-part series of hybrid workshops, “Advanced Analytic Methods of Causal Analysis”. This series is held on February 17, March 3, and March 17, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, online and in-person in Brown Lounge at Washington University in St. Louis. This series will take a much deeper dive into causality analysis and will cover the following competencies. Participation of the full series will result in a certificate of completion.
1. Kernel-based Matching to Estimate ATT & Difference-in-differences
2. Propensity Score Analysis in conjunction with SEM
3. Propensity Score Analysis in conjunction with Survival Analysis
4. Propensity Score Dosage Analysis
5. Rosenbaum Sensitivity Analysis Do you wish to register for the full workshop series?
