Suubi4PrEP Study Protocol Training
Funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the Suubi4PrEP study examines the impact of a multilevel combination intervention focused on PrEP initiation and adherence among adolescent girls and young women living in HIV hotspots in Uganda. In preparation for field activities, the study held a week-long protocol training with all staff involved in the study. The training was facilitated by Dr. Proscovia Nabunya, ICHAD Director and one of the study’s lead principal investigators. The training focused on a detailed review of the study protocol, including key study procedures for participant screening, informed consent, recruitment, activity flow, safety monitoring, data collection, as well as the review and pretesting of assessment tools. Mr. Samiri Jamiru, the study coordinator and laboratory manager, conducted the training on biomarker sample collection and testing using point-of-care Tenofovir urine sample kits for assessing PrEP adherence. We wish the team all the best as they prepare to begin field activities!
