ICHAD’s 2019 Annual Report
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the International Center for Child Health and Development, we would like to share with you our annual report which showcases a very productive 2019 for our team.
In 2019, ICHAD received six new grants and four continuation renewals to support our ongoing research. 2019 saw our largest ever Annual Conference on Child Behavioral Health in Sub-Saharan Africa – with a keynote from Queen Sylvia Nagginda; and opening remarks from the Deputy Director of US National Institute of Mental Health Dr. Shelli Avenevoli – which brought together more than 450 researchers and stakeholders in Masaka, Uganda to discuss bridging the gap between researchers, implementers, and policymakers. The team collectively published 17 peer-reviewed articles in numerous well respected social science, public health and medical journals, with many more in the pipeline.
This important work could not be done without the support of our growing team. Our field staff in Uganda has grown close to 50 full-time Research Assistants and we welcomed four new members to our US team. We also have a wonderfully diverse team of 11 masters and PhD students supporting our work. We hope you enjoy learning from this report and our innovative and impactful work as we invest in our young people’s future around the globe today!
You can access the 2019 Annual Report here.
Hard copies will be available at our Uganda and US ICHAD and SMART Africa offices.
From all of us: ICHAD Directors, Research Team, and Staff.
